Club Dinner: Edgar Allan Poe

October 27, 2017 at 6:30PM

Monroe House

Stephen Mead will present an all Edgar Allan Poe program for the Arts Club Friday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 pm. He will perform the famous and haunting poem "The Raven" and the creepy and ultra-dramatic story "The TellTale Heart," to provide a chilling and memorable evening!

Mead trained as an actor at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has made a specialty of dramatic recitations from the works of Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, Lewis Carroll, W.S. Gilbert and other 19th-century authors. Most 19th-century literature was written to be heard as well as read, and Mead’s enthralling renditions of these pieces have gripped audiences in the UK and the US since 1987. He has presented solo performances at the Athenaeum in Alexandria, Bloombars in Columbia Heights, “Happenings at the Harman” hosted by the Shakespeare Theatre and at the Barracks Row Fall Festival on Capitol Hill. He was hailed by Washington City Paper as "a brilliant artist."

Cocktails, 6:30 pm; Program, 7:30 pm; Dinner, 8:30 pm. $50 plus $10 program fee. Business Dress.

Please RSVP no later than 3 pm the day before the dinner. Reservations can be made at (202) 331-7282 ext. 3 or at
