Jack Boul

Paintings and Monotypes

Jack Boul was born in Brooklyn in 1927 and grew up in the South Bronx. He attended the American Artist’s School in New York before being drafted into the US Army, where he served in Italy during World War II. He later studied on the GI Bill at the Cornish School of Art in Seattle. He continued his studies at American University and served as a longtime faculty member there. Throughout his career, Boul has exhibited regularly in the Washington metropolitan area. His first museum exhibition was in 1974 at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art mounted a career retrospective in 2000. The National Gallery of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art both own impressions of his monotypes.

Janis Goodman

A Survey of Drawings

Janis Goodman is a professor of fine arts at the Corcoran College of Art+Design. She received her MFA in painting from the George Washington University and a BA from Queens College.  She has been the arts reviewer for WETA-TV’s Around Town since 2001. She has lectured at the National Gallery of Art and the Phillips Collection and has been a visiting artist and lecturer at colleges throughout the United States. Goodman’s work is Goodman’s work is represented in a variety of American museums and private collections in Europe. Her work has been shown in solo exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Maine and Washington, D.C., as well as internationally. She was a founding member of the artists’ group Workingman Collective, and maintains a studio in Mt. Rainier, Maryland. 

Curator: Eric Denker, senior lecturer, National Gallery of Art, adjunct professor, Georgetown University and Cornell University’s Washington Semester.

Susanne Eisinger

Painter Susanne Eisinger is the featured artist in this cooperative gallery featuring works by Arts Club members in a variety of media. Participating artists include Lorna Aldrich, Carlyn Anderson, Cherry Baumbusch, Jenna Beebe, Vicki Doyle, Jack Hannula, Teri Hiley, Larry Jarvik, Martine Khadr-Van Schoote, Pamela King, Peggy McNutt, Ruth Meixner-Bird, Mahy Polymeropoulos, Enza Quargnali, Leslie Sorg Ramsay and Jeanne Sullivan.
