How to Get Involved

Do you want to be part of the Arts Club Centennial Celebration AND express yourself creatively?  Of course you do, so join in the 100 Canvases for 100 Years Project.

What is the 100 Canvases for 100 Years Project?

In May 2016, the Arts Club will present an exhibition and sale of 100 small canvases created by Arts Club members, friends and supporters.  The canvases will be sold as part of a fundraising effort to support the Arts Club’s permanent collection of art.

How do I get involved?

The Club will provide you with an 8 inch by 6 inch canvas to use as your surface.  There is no theme except for the celebration of the arts at the Arts Club of Washington for the last 100 years and the excitement about our next 100 years.  Canvases and instructions are available in the Arts Club office for you to use.

Are there any rules?

The only requirement is that you must use the canvas provided. You may project off the canvas surface by approximately 2 inches for three-dimensional works.  Any medium is acceptable, paint, collage, photography, mixed-media.  For example, if you decide to work with photography, just attach the image to the 8 x 6 inch canvas.

But what if I’m not an “artist”?

This project is not limited to visual artists.  Use this as an opportunity to explore your creative side.  Also, we will be scheduling workshops with Club artists to help stimulate your creativity and to work with art materials.

To reserve your canvas please contact Nichola Hays at (202) 331-7282 ext. 119 or email her at
